Edward & His Dancing Bear

Sample

Performance by Duncan Wells

Once upon a time in England there was a man down in the square
with his friend all brown and furry, Edward and his dancing bear.
On the street they danced for free, spining twisting bending knees,
all around Trafalgar Square was Edward and his dancing bear.

Come he called to all around him, leave your business gather here,
I am Edward pleased to meet you, this my friend a dancing bear.
I will hum a tune so sweet, he will skip from here to there,
join the lughter keep a beat for Edward and his dancing bear.

Came the people of the town day by day and year by year
just to watch the children clap for Edward and his dancing bear.
Soon the word was passed around and everyone from far and near,
came to see it for themselves, Edward and his dancing bear.

Soon the seasons passed before them, still the people filled the square,
craning necks to see the team of Edward and his dancing bear.
Edward sang a sweet refrain for folks to come and gather near
and you will see the great sensation, Edward and his dancing bear.

They danced a two step three step four, hoops and circles through the air,
how all England dearly loved them Edward and his dancing bear.
On the street they danced for free, spinning twisting, bending knees,
all around Trafalgar Square was Edward and his dancing bear.

One by one the children grew they left the square and went away,
then Edward and his dancing bear went home for good and there they stayed
so if you should ever go to England would you listen close,
for sounds of laughter, sounds of cheer for Edward and his dancing bear.
