Home Again

A Songwriter's Demo From Duncan Wells

It's a time to be thinking once again about home
where the matters of heart are what matters the most
there's a place in our memory where the ghosts we left behind
offer proof that our spirit has survived.

It's a life to be cherished though the boundary is near
we may wander from our heritage but always we are here
with our hope of consolation and our feet on solid ground
waiting once more for our time to come around.

Seeds are sown out of love
some are washed away to die
but we find a way to compensate
our ordinary lives
knowing our time will surely come
by and by.

There's a fire in all our wishes burning somewhere deep within
as we follow every instinct cautiously into the wind
but is it privilege that would have us so tied and so secure
to the path that follows here along the shore.

Seeds are sown out of love
some are washed away to die
but our hearts will hold the photographs
of all we left behind
so we can all return someday
by and by.

There's a prayer for every problem
and a home for every heart
but at first you must find confidence in being who you are
speak with pride of your beginnings
answer quickly as you're called
and you will find that you will soon be home again.

Seeds are sown out of love
some are washed away to die
but we find a way to compensate
our ordinary lives
knowing our time will surely come
by and by.
