Tiny Boats - A Songwriter's Demo From Duncan Wells

A Songwriter's Demo From Duncan Wells

Performance by Max MacDonald

Tiny boats along the river as morning lights the sky
and the blessings of another day once again arrives
though the wind may blow us all away, to where no one can know
oh I hope the distance leaves us with a tiny boat to row.

I will stand beside this river
until my day is done
I will beat my drum as slowly as the Earth around the Sun
and I know that I will catch that wind before I take my leave
to sail upon my tiny boat into that deep wide sea.

There are children 'long the river bank, their laughter fills the day
their dance is done in circles as they play
they are balanced with the moon above in pure and perfect light
that will guide them through their wildest dreams and close their eyes tonight.

I will stand beside this river
until my day is done
may the sky fall down upon me I have sworn I will not run

there must be something in the distance, and I know someday I'll see
when I sail upon my tiny boat into that deep wide sea.

There's a song along the river bank all the tiny boats are in
Sunday bells ring out as souls march off to cleanse their sins
in the water that has kept them true and constant to their shore
but like a tiny boat they all must go into that final storm.

I will stand beside this river
until my day is done
I will beat my drum as slowly as the Earth around the Sun
and I know that I will sleep some day in meadows soft and green
but until my sleep arrives beside this river I will be.

I will stand beside this river
until my day is done
may the sky fall down upon me I have sworn I will not run
there must be something in the distance, and I know someday I'll see
when I sail upon my tiny boat into that deep wide sea
yes, I will sail upon my tiny boat into the deep wide sea
